Statement of U.S. Senator Russ Feingold on the 34th Anniversary of Earth Day

Sorry, I was a little behind today. Senator Russ Feingold released a statement about the 34th Anniversary of Earth Day (read full statement here):
On April 22, 1970, Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson's seven year effort to increase environmental awareness culminated in the creation of Earth Day. Thirty-four years later, Earth Day is alive and well. We celebrate Earth Day each April to raise environmental awareness and ask ourselves what more we can do to protect our precious natural resources. This year, hundreds of millions of people across the world are expected to take part in Earth Day events. Wisconsinites are taking Senator Nelson's grassroots effort to heart across the state as they celebrate Earth Day, whether they are cleaning up their local river, picking up trash along Lake Michigan, or celebrating the rich biodiversity of our state at their favorite nature center or park.
