A strange day, and an office right next to the Rosicrucians |

So, today was an interesting day at work. First off, it was the first day we've canvassed out of the new office. Now, the office is in a strange little building on 39th and Wisconsin. There's a lumberjack on the staircase railing, and I want to point out that glorious image shows that we do in fact have an office right down the hall from the local Rosicrucian order chapter.
That's right, everyone's favorite secret society is right down the hall from the Milwaukee New Voters Project office. It's just so... cool. Anyway, that's just a small note. I had to bike the four miles to work on David's Mongoose because I was left without a ride. It wasn't that big of a deal, but just a minor pain in the ass.
We canvassed around Brady Street, which wasn't that bad. It's a funky neighborhood, and I did alright. One guy though just pissed me off. He personally insulted me for thinking that voting was important. Geh, I ended up in a debate with him that drove me to wanting to sock him in the face, so I turned around and left... and registered some guy who was ten feet away.
Also, some kid tried to tell me Kerry was a draft dodger. I... just didn't know how to react to it. I mean, I've never heard anything so... ridiculous in my life. I tried to explain to the kid, that while I was endorsing no candidate, that he should actually harp about something that was actually true about him. I mean, Kerry is a decorated war Veteran. He WENT TO FRICKIN' WAR. That makes him in fact, NOT a draft dodger BY F***ING DEFINITION. I didn't mention that President Bush IS a draft dodging son of a bitch (and his mother really is a bitch, Barbara Bush is one crazy woman), but that would be me being partisan.
And being partisan in my job is illegal, as I'm registering people to vote.
I really shouldn't have argued with the kid at all, but I figure it wasn't me defending John Kerry. It was really me defending the concept of TRUTH. It's my personal battle against idiocy.
Anyway, I biked back home from the office after work, and sit here typing. It's quite amazing, really. Okay, so really I watched some TV first, but that hardly seems important.
I may or may not be going to Madison to hang out with Erika tomorrow night. It depends on whether or not I can talk my mom into lending me money. This is the problem with not having had a pay day yet, yeesh. I can't wait until money actually exists in my pocket again. That will be so fricking nice. No matter what though, I'm taking off tomorrow from work. I worked an extra shift on Sunday, so I'll still have worked five canvasses this week.
Ah well, I think I'm going to head off to bed. You guys have no idea how much of a farmer's tan I have right now...
