Sarah Vowell, Moxy Fruvous, and Life In General
Posted June 17, 2004 - 1:36:27

The Partly Cloudy PatriotSo, I was rereading a bit of Sarah Vowell's book The Partly Cloudy Patriot tonight, and I was reminded as to how much I love her quirky writing. Sarah Vowell is the sort of person who I'd want to take to dinner, and sit down and chat with one day. Breathtakingly strange and intelligent, her written persona at least defies most simple descriptions. I will say that everyone and their grandmother should pick up a copy of 'Patriot, along with an earlier book of hers entitled Take the Cannoli. Both of them are well worth the read.

I do want to also point out that Sarah Vowell has one of the sexiest brains alive. There, I said it, I find strange, intelligent women attractive. If anyone is actually surprised by that, they haven't known me that long then.

I recently rediscovered that I have a mess of MP3s on my external harddrive that I forgot I had. Back in the days of me and Erin, she had to wipe her iBook's hard drive. So, rather than lose her files, she backed them up on my external hard drive. So, now a good deal of time has passed, and I rediscover that there's over 53 hours of music on my computer I forgot about.

I've been delighting myself by listening to Moxy Fruvous' "King of Spain" over and over again thanks to this revelation.

I also have been digging some of the Blue Man Group tracks on here too... it's very, very good stuff.

Work has been pretty good these last few days. Nothing exciting to report - I'm doing well enough to not be anywhere near the risk of being fired, but I'm not doing as well as I'd like. Meh, I'll get better.

After work today, I went out to dinner with my parents, and my Dad's cousin Phil, who is in town from New York. Phil was with an old friend of his from his college days named Al. David and Mary joined us a little into the meal (are they together? I don't know...), and all was good. We went to Saz's, and needless to say I had a burger which will probably cause me to gain a few pounds. *grin*

Terence and Jess's wedding is on Friday, and I still haven't gotten ahold of Pokey about car-pooling up... which is bad. I need to: 1. Secure a vehicle as a back up plan 2. Call Shannon to get Matt's number so I can call him. This must be done, as I NEED to go to this wedding. It will be the last time I'll get to see some of the people there for quite some time... and I can't miss out on Terence's big day. I've known that kid for five years, and I'm very happy for him and Jess. Also, it's a party - and I'm never one to miss a party.
