Fun with technological art

Collage Created by TypoGeneratorThe image in this post was not created by a human being, but instead a computer. They call it TypoGenerator, and it's sort of cool.

Okay, so I've known about it for months, but it got SlashDotted, so it had been running fairly slowly for some time. I was essentially waiting for it to speed up.

What it does is create a collage on the fly using the Google Image search on whatever word you were using. I mean, what's weird is that the collage it generated for the word "Trae" actually features what I am pretty sure is a photo I actually took a while back (well, it probably isn't, but it looks like it - and that's good enough)...

...and that's sort of neat. If you run one on the word "Apple" you'll get some Mac logos, and if you run it on "NoBrandCon" you get some pretty cool results as well.

Mind you, many of my other attempts generated fairly plain backgrounds, but if you keep trying different things you can generate some cool stuff. It is at the very least a fun little toy to play with for a while. I personally love little webtoys like this...

...but it does beg the question "is it art?" I mean, it looks like art. It is very pleasing to the eye, but it was created purely by a machine. Perhaps the program that generates it could be considered art though, as it was created by a person...

...hmmm, I shall ponder this for a while.

What is wrong with you, Kyle?
I WANT TO BE A KING IN SCOTTISH HISTORY!!!!1
I think that it is you who has a thing wrong with you, sir.
That's it -- Duck/Minivan privileges are off!
Oh, Traegorn, you truly are the King of Kings.
No, I am.
