Recreational World Building
Posted Dec 6, 2010 - 8:28:45

Bork Con Website. One of the things I like to do when I get really into a series or work of fiction is to immerse myself in its world. I love tie in websites, interactive portions of fiction... really, the entire thing has always hooked me. So I had to ask myself, why wasn't I doing the same kind of world building for my own creation? UnCONventional is set in a consistent alternate reality - so why not let people dive into it and interact with it too?

So, with that, I've decided to take an initiative at building out Eau De Puanteur, WI and the rest of the UnCONventional world. I already had a head start, as it's failed predecessor in 2006 (Full Circle) was built on the concept. There's been a Rhythm Cafe website for years longer than there's been an UnCONventional.

I'll be rolling out tie in sites and interactive elements over the next few months though - the Bork Con website will be up in the next week or so (it's 90% done), and hopefully I'll have time to build more tie in websites as well.

First off though, I'm increasing the amount of interactivity in a basic way a lot of different webcomics have -- by creating Twitter accounts for members of the main cast. Follow them, don't follow them... it's mostly for my own entertainment anyways. Here they are for those interested:
Phil - inPHILtrator
Max - bangbangmaxwell
Tara - Tarallax
Lynn - lastbaxter

My goal is to make the comic as interactive as possible, and let you the reader have fun with the entire thing. I don't know if I'll be able to take it as far as I'd like to, but I think you'll at least enjoy what I know I can pull off.

Which, y'know, should be good enough.

Well, I started following Phil and Max for sure.
