Update: Since this post was made, I've launched the webcomic I was contemplating - The Chronicles of Crosarth. Check it out.
So I know I talk about UnCONventional a lot, but some of you may remember that I actually draw two webcomics these days. I mean, Irresponsible Irreverence still exists, and I should probably promote it more than I do.
Anyway, the few smatterings of people who read Irresponsible Irreverence likely noticed today's comic featuring a Steampunk Squid. The image started off as me goofing around drawing something based off of a Twitter conversation about a friend's dream. I had planned to use it as a "Random Art" entry, but it made me giggle enough where I wanted to make it a comic.
Of course, on its own, it's pretty funny, but my brain wouldn't stop there. Friday's comic is going to feature the next part of that conversation as well. My brain kept building out the world as the days went by as well - what navy is this character a "Fleet Admiral" in? How does his world function? What do the airships look like in this setting?
I kept going.
Pretty soon, I had a fully developed world and mythos put together in my mind. I had absolutely no good reason to do this, as beyond the two comics this week I don't really have plans to do more in this world, but I sort of figured what the heck.
Honestly, like the Legend of the Gauntlet stuff, I would love to have the time to do a dedicated comic based on the world and characters I've created already. I wish I had the time to explore the possibilities this universe would provide me... but I can't.
Again, I already do two webcomics. With a full time job, that's all I've got time for.
So maybe one day I'll get a chance to revisit this Steampunk world, but I'm sad to say the odds of me doing a dedicated comic in that world are fairly low.
But I can dream.
Or apparently Kellin can, as that's where I got the idea for this whole thing...
