Adjusting to Windows 2000
Posted June 26, 2003 - 14:03:48

Okay, so I just upgraded to Win2K this week. Why only Win2K and not XP? Umm, this is a 366MHz machine - XP might kill it.

Oi, so this is turning into a love/hate relationship with Windows 2000. On one hand, it supports all the hardware and software that I'd been struggling with in Windows 98 for a while - but it's been goofy setting up, and it frankly fragments my harddrive about a billion more times than Windows 98 ever did...

Of course Win2K also supports ObjectDock... which is so nice. I'm sorry, but I've just gotten to like using Erin's iBook, and I wanted a slightly more OSX style interface... and I have it, using ObjectDock, ObjectBar, and WindowBlinds (All software from StarDock). My system doesn't quite look like OSX, but it doesn't have to. I just wanted a "close enough" feel. Here's a screenshot of my system right now. Yeah, this is Windows 2000 people. Customizing your GUI is actually pretty easy, but most people never bother. Meh... I don't know.

Got reaccepted to UW Eau Claire, so I have to call my new advisor and register for classes (woot!). I know I just left the town, but I do like the school...

Ah well - I'll figure it out. For those of you who are curious, my returning to Eau Claire has nothing to do with my relationship with Erin (although the fact that she lives there is a big plus). This is completely about the University, and I'm still going to be checking out UWM too. Meh.
