It has been an entire year.

Erika and TraeSo today, October 8th, is Erika and my first actual anniversary. That's right, we've been dating for an entire year. It's really been an interesting trip, and one that I hope continues for quite some time.

It's kind of weird, some days it feels like we've been together forever, but on other days it feels like we've been together for only a few months... It's very strange, but very nice. And at this point you're probably tired of reading me gush, but I'm just going to take a few more minutes...

Gush gush gush...

Okay, I'm done. In other news, I've been working on my little DOS game, and it's progressing nicely. I have all the bugs worked out of the existing bosses, I have a basic enemy type working, and I have items that upgrade your ship. I've been working on more advanced enemies, and once I get that done, I'll release an Alpha copy on the site here. I also discovered that someone wrote the tools for QuickBasic (the ancient programming language I use - I think I have the last existing legal copy) to let it use the Windows TCP/IP stack... which for those of you who don't know what that means, it means I can write network games now.

Will Ascender be Network enabled? Hell no. It's a one player shooter, and as the entire game is randomly generated, it would take a massive rewrite for a second player to be added, let alone sync up the varying walls; however, what I can do now is write my NEXT weird ASCII graphics game to be an online game. Now, really - won't that be scary.

Happy anniversary guys.
Thanks Kyle. :)

Happy Anniversary!
Jackie broke up with me last night. She said she doesn't love me anymore.
Thought you might like to know.
Uhh... that really sucks, Derek.
Congratulations on the anniversary! I just had my one year wedding anniversary August 7th. But now Willow is in Australia for the next 3 months doing research for her PHD. Damn, and I'm stuck here is Pullman, WA. If only I didn't have all these fuckin bills to pay I would have gone too! But she'll be going again next fall and I'm saving up to go then.
Am excited to check out your new Qbasic game. Whoa, flashback. You should post some of those old games we did, if you've still got em.
Thanks Jesse. I have the old "Antarctic Blaze" game you did years back (was actually playing it earler the other day). I can toss that online if you want me to Jesse.
