About Books Not Bush:

What is “Books not Bush”?

“Books not Bush” is a nationwide grassroots effort by students to mobilize our campuses in a show of solidarity against the current administration. “Books not Bush” has three primary objectives: to educate students on the failed policies of President Bush by presenting speakers, to register additional voters where state laws permit, and to get out the student vote for Election Day. Thus far the “Books not Bush” effort has focused upon initiating rallies in swing states where students quite easily could affect the outcome of their state.

Why is “Books not Bush” important?
With poles showing the presidential race virtually even, and with a record number of students registered to vote, our opportunity to stand up and have our voices heard has never been better. Frankly, we as students couldn’t ask for a better opportunity to let this nation know by our coming together that we are not OK with rising tuition costs, unparalleled deficit spending, and poor domestic and national policy.

When is “Books not Bush”?

“Books not Bush” is scheduled to take place at 3:00pm on October 28th, 2004. It is important that we all rally upon this date to send a message that we are unified and coordinated and need to be taken seriously.
